Tempdent's online Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing provides you with the skills to assist Orthodontists in the surgery. The course runs for 12 months.
The awarding body for the Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing is the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN). Delivery of theoretical knowledge will take place out of working hours throught online weekend webinars supported by our online content learning platform.
This 40 hour course is a qualification suitable for dental nurses who assist orthodontists in the surgery. Assessment includes a written examination and successful completion of a work based record of experience.

The class will be held on one Saturday every month and will run for 12 months (with 11 sessons plus the ROE & examination)

You can book and pay online for this course or request a call to discuss your requirements. You will need to complete an application form. We will arrange an online 1:1 interview with our head of training where you will need to produce your GDC certificate and dental nursing qualification certificate. Upon enrolment, we will provide you with a course acceptance letter.
Course fee
This course costs £850 + VAT, excluding an examination fee of £205.00
You will be required to pay a minimum deposit of £495.00 before your place on the course in confirmed. You will also be required to pay the exam fee in full at this stage.
Opportunity to further your career in Dental Orthodontics and progress on to become an Orthodontics therapist.
Successful completion of the course, will permit you to assist with patience undertaking Orthodontics treatment(S). You will be able to substantiate your aptitude of this field, through completion of your log sheets, expanded cases studies and evidence of competence in your record of experience.
The professional training hours of this course will be contribute to your CPD points.

The Record of Experience is designed to provide a record of activities completed to facilitate specific learning experiences. These include:
Part A – Log sheets
Candidates must complete the log sheets to provide evidence of their involvement in the care of at least fifty patients, which should include at least ten cases of fixed appliances and ten cases of removable appliances of which five cases must be functional appliances.
Part B – Case studies
Two case studies of 2000 words relating to:
Advice to one patient requiring advice on maintenance of oral health and care of their orthodontic appliance
One patient undergoing orthodontic treatment requiring an interdisciplinary approach.
Part C – evidence of competence
During the course the candidates will be expected to demonstrate competence in relation to the following:
taking of clinical photographs
completion of cephalometric tracing, digitisation and measurement
assisting with the taking and handling of impressions
Casting of study models
Contributing to the fitting and adjustment of orthodontic appliances
The exam will be online and consists of a 90 minute written exam including Part A (20 multiple choice questions) and Part B (3 structured short answer questions).
