Online CPD

This module explores why legislation and control for ionising radiation needs to be in place, what legislations relate to ionising radiation, what the role of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) is, and what dose limitation, justification and optimisation are.

The overall aim of this module is to understand the importance of complying with legislation and contemporary guidance relating to the environment, facilities and equipment required for dental radiography.

This CPD module provides you with 2 hours GDC verifiable CPD.

This CPD relates to GDC development outcome C.

This module forms part 2 of 4 of your IR(ME)R 17 update. All modules must be completed in order to achieve a full IR(ME)R update.

This module will help you to:

• Know the legislation for protection of staff, patients and the environment
• Know what dose limitation, justification and optimisation are
• Understand the principles of ALARP
• Know what the role of the ICRP is in recommendations for legislation
