The aim of this module is to enable the learner to:

• Recognise what can happen to an individual or practice if there is a failure to decontaminate correctly.
• Identify the steps taken during an inspection and prosecution.
• List the laws and regulations that govern infection control.
• Define accountability, compliance, and clinical governance.
• Describe the tests that are required on standard decontamination equipment.
• Identify records that are needed to prove compliance.
• List the steps taken to raise a concern or grievance.
