Today marks Tempdent’s 28th birthday, a celebration of nearly three decades of dedication to the dental industry. From a modest start to becoming the UK’s leading provider of dental apprenticeships, training, and recruitment, Tempdent has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of the sector, empowering dental professionals and strengthening practice teams nationwide.

From humble beginnings to industry leader

Tempdent’s story began in 1996 when founder, Lorraine Nadel, a former Dental Practice Manager, founded Tempdent Dental Agency with a vision to provide high-quality recruitment services to the dental industry.

Over the years, we expanded our offering, introducing innovative training courses and apprenticeships that have since become central to our mission to empower the next generation of dental professionals. Today, we are proud to support over 1,000 apprentices at any one time, and work with over 1,000 employer partners, from independent practices to leading dental groups.

At Tempdent, our success is driven by our incredible and growing team who share a passion for making a difference to those beginning their dental careers, those looking for their next opportunity and those choosing to upskill and expand their knowledge in the field. From the leadership team to every tutor, recruiter, and staff member, our inclusive and positive culture fuels our achievements. We wouldn’t be where we are today without our wonderful team!

This dedication has led to 99.8% pass rates on our apprenticeships, consistent outperformance of national Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR), and recognition as a trusted partner by some of the largest names in dentistry.

Highlights from 28 Years of milestones

Here are some of our key milestones over the years:

• 1996: Tempdent Recruitment Agency was founded by Dental Practice Manager, Lorraine Nadel.
• 1999: Tempdent began delivering their first National Diploma qualifications, alongside the growing recruitment business.
• 2001: Tempdent introduced the NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing, now the Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship.
• 2005: Tempdent received their first Grade 2 Ofsted inspection.
• 2008: Tempdent launched CPD delivery, extending their training offering.
• 2018: Tempdent introduced the Level 4 Dental Practice Manager Apprenticeship.
• 2021: Tempdent celebrated the 25th anniversary with the launch of the annual conference.
• 2023: Acquired by Knovia Group, marking a new chapter in our growth.
• 2024: Tempdent launches the Level 4 Oral Health Practitioner Apprenticeship.

As we step into our 28th year, our vision is stronger than ever: to educate, inspire, and connect dental professionals, building a resilient and skilled workforce for the future.
