Statistics show that whilst the Dental market is flourishing in the UK there is a shortage of GDC registered Dental Care Professionals. This has particularly impacted the Dental Nurse sector where the number of registered dental nurses has dropped significantly over the last few years leading to a shortage of qualified dental nurses. This becomes even more worrying against the context of a government report published in 2014 that looked at the impact of workforce supply should dental nurses become more involved in duties in the practice. It stated that if Dental Nurses were to complete 25% of all duties in the practice then there would be a requirement for an additional 48,000 qualified Dental Nurses to meet the demand.
Tempdent are proud to say that through our Dental Nurse Apprenticeship programme we are helping to buck this trend and boost the number of qualified dental nurses in the industry. Tempdent have been delivering the apprenticeship in dental nursing in one shape or another for over 20 years now and typically have 600 learners training with us at any given time. This typically means that Tempdent contributes approximately 300 new qualified dental nurses each year.
We are proud of the impact we are having in bridging the gap in the market and also the positive impact we are having on so many peoples lives in helping them to start their career in Dentistry. Many of our learners continue to develop their skills through our post registration courses in Radiography and Orthodontic Nursing or through our face to Face & online CPD.
