Have you thought about enhancing your skills? What about doing a Post Registration in Dental Radiography?

Dental Nurses are becoming more utilised and challenged in their role thanks to additional duties. There are many additional duties dental nurses can be trained and qualified to do in any dental setting. These include impression taking, application of fluoride also the more long-standing qualifications of sedation nursing, special care nursing, orthodontic nursing, the delivery of oral health education and taking dental radiographs.

Tempdent have been delivering the primary qualification training to dental nurses for nearly 20 years and have also delivered the additional duties qualification on Oral Health Education since 2003. Following increased demand after compulsory registration, the Certificate in Dental Radiography followed in 2009 which has always been well subscribed. This is probably because it is extremely useful for many people in different disciplines and reasons within the dental field.

Orthodontic practices like to have one nurse able to take any panoramics, lateral cephalographs and other views for diagnostic consultations and ongoing development in orthodontic treatment. There are also many practices who have a separate radiography room in which patients can have radiographs taken by a qualified nurse whilst the clinician is seeing another patient with another assistant. It can be beneficial for many people to have this additional qualification as it is a much-used tool of the trade saving both time and money in getting qualified ancillaries to carry out the tasks.

Tempdent has proved to be a high-quality provider, with success rates, which we are very proud of and are consistently above the national average. In 2016 our pass rate was 92% with the national average at 77%. In 2017, with the new exam, our success rates were 7% above the national average.

To gain the full qualification, the candidate must complete the full Record of Competence, have it marked, moderated to the correct standard and then pass the examination. The course will take the candidate 6 months to complete and with the exams taking place in March and September. The new courses start straight after the exams. Your Record of Competence is valid for 18 months; hence you could have 3 attempts to pass the exam.

Our next Post Registration online Radiography course starts on the 18th September, for more information click here and our face to face Post Registration course starts on 23rd  September, for more information click here.
